My very own Quantumatic!

I don’t know why opening the sink cabinet door, removing the dishwasher soap, opening it up, pouring it in the dishwasher dispenser, closing the dishwasher and turning it on seems daunting – and under normal circumstances it wouldn’t. Until I was given a Finish Quantumatic. How about that name – Quantumatic! It makes this automatic dishwasher detergent dispenser sound even more “cool” – at the risk of sounding totally cheesy, it makes me think of the Greased Lightning scene in the original Grease movie – you know what I’m talking about, don’t you?!

Okay, so what the heck am I really talking about? I was given this revolutionary new automatic dishwasher soap dispenser to try out and I fell in love with it. It’s unassuming, takes up just a little tiny bit of real estate in the dishwasher’s top rack, makes your life just a little easier, and does a fantastic job of getting your dishes clean!

Quantumatic is the world’s first refillable automatic detergent dispenser. Simply fit the dispenser in the rack, place a detergent refill in it, and do nothing for twelve washes. It works automatically (the detergent auto-releases) for twelve washes! The dispenser contains an intelligent counter that counts down the washes remaining, from twelve to zero, so all you have to do before closing the dishwasher door is take a quick glance at the dispenser to make sure it’s not at zero and you’re good to go.

Finish Quantumatic claims to be so powerful that there’s no need to pre-rinse your dishes. Part of that is due to the fact that it gets to work right from the first drop of water to soften even burned on food. I have found this to be true in my use of it! I’ve been using it for over 6 months now and have not had any problems whatsoever and my dishes always come out very clean and with no residue.

I realize that I’m starting to sound like a commercial for this and I want you to know that this hub was written by me for the sole purpose of reviewing this product that I love and getting the word out there about it to anyone interested in something like this. No one’s paying me anything for this review and no one asked me to write it.

That being said, I have to also tell you that in doing a bit of research before writing this I came across lots of reviews of the Quantumatic – lots of great ones, but some not so great ones too. It seems to me that all of the not so great reviews have one thing in common: soft water. I’m not sure, scientifically, why it seems to not work so well in soft water areas, but that seems to be the consensus. So if you are considering buying this for your home, make sure first that you know whether or not you have hard or soft water.

Is Finish Quantumatic Worth It?

Well, I have to admit that I have not taken the time to sit down and calculate the cost per wash versus conventional dishwasher powders or liquids to determine how it compares financially. Frankly, to me some things are just worth spending a few pennies more for the added convenience.

Yes, using a conventional fill-the-dispenser-each-time-you-wash routine is no big deal to do, but once you get used to having an auto-dispense-for-twelve-washes routine it’s hard not to LOVE it!! So yes, to me, it’s absolutely worth it.

After my initial supply, I did have a bit of difficulty finding the refills – my closest Walmart didn’t seem to carry it, but I found it at another Walmart not too far. The most recent time I searched for refills, however, I realized that Amazon had the best prices on the Quantumatic – so I highly recommend going that route.

Thanks for sticking around to read this 640-word hub about dishwashing detergent! Tell me what you think below….have you tried the Finish Quantumatic? Want to?

Hmmm...might have to give it a try, although the way I pack my dishwasher, even something as small as this might be eating up too much real estate. ;) I do use a liquid that prevents spotting - my dishwasher has a special dispenser for that, and I probably refill it every 15 washes or so. But I will say that I buy Trader Joe's powder, because it's cheap and does a decent job of cleaning up everything.

If you do try it, I'd love to hear what you think - it'd be nice to know if I'm the only one who loves this thing so much! It's not like reaching for the bottle of detergent and pouring it into the dispenser is difficult, but NOT having to do it every time is somehow very exciting for me!! The added benefit of very clean dishes is a big plus, too!
