Toy bin organizers just might be the best way to keep and child’s room or playroom neat, tidy and organized.  These multi-bin systems are great because they’re sturdy and the bins are open, so it’s easy for little ones to see what’s inside each one.  That, in turn, makes clean-up easy – cars go in the bin with all the cars, small animals in the bin with small animals, and so forth and so on. 

Some of you may be asking, “What if there’s nothing in the bins because the kids have dumped everything in them out?”  Aha!  The solution to that, depending on the age of your children, is to place a label on the front of the bin, or wherever it would work best for you.  For older kids, it can be a simple tag that says “Cars” – for little ones that aren’t reading yet, a tag with a picture of a car will work.  That same idea can be carried out on all of the bins. 

Of course, you don’t even have to be that organized – it would be just as nice to just toss all the toys in all of the bins, regardless of what type they are because as long as the floor is clear of toys and they are put away somewhere, you’ll have a tidy space!

These multi-bin toy organizers come in many different styles, or themes, such as Disney princesses, Disney’s Cars, Dora, fairies, and just plain no-theme colorful ones.  Put one or more of these along a wall in your playroom or kid’s room and you’ll be half way to a clean and tidy space.

Now, older kids are better at cleaning up than the little ones.  I don’t quite understand why the little ones don’t understand the concept of playing with a toy, then putting it away when they’re done, and before taking out another toy.  It’s really a simple process, but, alas, a mystery to me! 

I have found that I get nowhere when I ask nicely for my daughters to clean up the playroom. I have also found that I don’t get anywhere when I ask not so nicely, or even when I scream! I can tell you what does work – and that is when I say whoever cleans up fastest – or the most – gets a treat. I’m not one of those parents who allow my children to have candy or other sweets all the time, so treats are definitely an incentive to them and totally worthwhile to me. If you have only one child, you can still implement this by involving yourself in the “competition.”

Here's to an organized home!  Well, at least to a room with no toys on the floor for a few minutes - that's all I ask most of the time!
